Admissions Process
We are delighted you are interested in a place at Grange Park School or Nursery
Registration
Children may be registered from any age. To register a child formally, the registration form must be completed electronially and signed by all those with parental responsibility. This must be submitted with a £50 non-refundable registration fee. At this stage if parents declare any special educational, medical need or disability the School will make all reasonable adjustments for the admissions process.
Allocation of Places
There are two main points of entry to the School. In our Nursery we admit children the term following their third birthday if they are in receipt of funding or prior if parents would like them to join GPPS without funding applied to fees. Our Reception class and all our classes except nursery can accommodate a maximim of 18 children although precise numbers vary from year to year. Priority is given to siblings of existing pupils wherever possible, as the school appreciates the difficulty for families with children in a number of different schools. Entry at other ages are considered on an individual basis.
Assessment of Prospective Pupils
Nursery class
Entry is non selective, although children must be toilet trained as we do not have nappy changing facilities.
Reception Class
The children are informally assessed by the Headteacher or Reception staff, we assess language, mathematical concepts, social skills and enthusiasm and interest levels. As the children are so young, we explain clearly to all prospective parents that no child fails at this age.
Entry to YearS 1 to Year 6
Entry at other ages will be considered on an individual basis and is dependent on availability of places. Vacancies beyond Reception are filled by inviting children to a taster morning which gives us an opportunity to observe and gain an insight into their current academic attainment.
If we can meet a child's needs, an offer letter is sent and places are secure only once the Acceptance Form is completed online and payment is made of the £750 deposit. This deposit is refundable at the end of the final term of Year 6.
Once a child has been accepted, a full term’s notice of removal, in writing, is required by the first day of term at the end of which the notice is to take effect, or a term’s fees will be charged in lieu.
